Most Common Questions
What is a routine eye exam?
The main purpose of a routine eye exam is to identify if you are suffering from a vision impairment such as a refractive eye error. Refractive eye errors are extremely common, accounting for around 80% of vision impairment in the United States. The most prevalent is myopia, beer known as short-sightedness. This is where the patient can see objects close to their face clearly, but those that are further away appear blurred or distorted. Other refractive eye errors include hyperopia (far-sightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia.
What is a comprehensive dilated eye exam?
A comprehensive eye exam covers what a routine eye exam will do and much more. It helps us determine your overall eye health as well as if you have any eye diseases or vision problems including diabetes, color blindness, pink eye or conjunctivitis, cataracts, eye injury, and glaucoma. Our optometrists will examine the external parts of the eye, including cornea, eyelids, and surrounding eye tissue. In most instances, the patient’s pupils will be dilated to evaluate the internal parts of the eye, including the optic nerve, retina, and cornea.
Do you perform contact lens exams?
Yes, our eye doctors do perform contact lens exams. Dr. Nguyen is able to fit all contact lens types including soft, disposable, gas permeable, bifocal, and toric. If it is your first time wearing contacts, our staff will be happy to teach you how to wear and care for your contact lenses. We offer all contact lens brands from a week to a year supply at competitive prices. Don’t forget to ask about our in store rebates!
Can you help with eye injuries and foreign body removal?
Our optometrists are always willing and able to help should you experience an eye emergency. Our office has state of the art equipment and can provide emergency services for eye injuries such as:
Eye trauma
Scratched eyes

Do you perform vision therapy?
Yes, as a residency trained optometrist, Dr. Nguyen is experienced and trained in vision therapy. Vision therapy is a type of physical therapy that treats the eyes and brain. Vision therapy is needed for visual conditions that cannot be treated by just wearing glasses and/or contact lenses. At Eye D Vision, vision therapy is offered as an individualized and supervised treatment program. It is designed to correct visual-motor and perceptual cognitive deficiencies, such as lazy eyes, crossed eyes, and convergence insufficiency, etc. It is a progressive program with vision exercises under the supervision of our doctor. The procedures are designed to improve fundamental visual skills by enhancing the brain’s ability to control the following:
Eye alignment
Eye tracking and eye teaming
Eye focusing abilities
Eye movements
Visual processing
The vision therapy program is offered at convenience of our patients. Typical sessions are 45 minutes per session and offered once or twice a week depending on the severity of the case. Please contact our office, for more information regarding our services.
